This lot comprises two mid-20th-century mantel clocks. The first is a Smiths Enfield mantel clock featuring a dark brown Bakelite or phenolic resin case with a waisted profile and flared base. The circular dial is designed with a silvered outer chapter ring, black Arabic numerals, and a dark brown centre. It is marked Smiths Enfield and MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN below the six o’clock position. The dial is fitted with ornate gilt hands and features two winding holes. The second clock is an Art Deco style mantel clock housed in a dark-stained oak case with characteristic stepped wing supports. The circular brass-toned dial features black Arabic numerals and two winding holes. No maker’s mark is visible on the dial of the wooden clock. Both timepieces are equipped with two-train mechanical movements, suggesting they strike the hour and half-hour.
