A Victorian mahogany writing slope of traditional rectangular form. The exterior is constructed from mahogany with an inset brass cartouche on the lid and a brass keyhole escutcheon to the front. The interior opens to reveal a slanted writing surface lined with purple velvet. To the right-hand side is a compartmentalised stationery section featuring a long well for pens and smaller recesses intended for inkwells. The box is fitted with brass hinges.
