Buying through Edwards Auctions
All lots are sold strictly on an “as seen” basis. Descriptions provided for items are intended solely as a guide and should not be relied upon as a guarantee of condition or authenticity. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, all images displayed are of the actual item available for auction. Buyers are responsible for carefully reading item descriptions and reviewing all associated images before bidding. Condition reports are available upon request.
Our viewing times are Friday 10 till 2 and Saturday 10 till 3.
Electrical items are to be treated as untested unless otherwise specified in the description, and buyers accept full responsibility and risk for their use.
Commission Charges for Buyers
A buyer’s premium of 20% is applicable to all lots purchased, calculated on top of the hammer price.
Payment of Lots and Invoices
All items won must be paid for in full within 72 hours of the sale ending and upon receipt of the invoice. Payment for the items must be made prior to any payment for postage. Payment for postage or courier charges must be paid after payment for the lots won. Failure to make payment within this period will incur a late payment fee of £5 per invoice per day, unless arrangements have been agreed.
Collection and Delivery
Buyers must collect within 72 hours of the sale’s conclusion to arrange either collection or delivery of their lots.
If items are not collected within the specified timeframe, or if no alternative arrangements are agreed, a storage charge of £5 per invoice per day will apply for up to seven days. Thereafter, the fee increases to £10 per invoice per day for a further seven days. After a total of 21 days, any remaining lots will be considered forfeited. Such items will be re-sold in the next available auction, the buyer may be barred from further participation at Edwards Auctions’ sole discretion, and any payments already made will be forfeited and are non-refundable. Ownership of the goods will revert to Edwards Auctions.
All items should be carefully inspected by the buyer upon collection. Once items have left the premises, they are deemed accepted, and no refunds or returns will be considered. Buyers are responsible for bringing appropriate assistance or equipment to load items into their vehicles, as staff assistance cannot always be guaranteed.
Selling Through Edwards Auctions
Edwards Auctions is open Tuesday to Saturday between 10 till 2 to intake items for auction. The seller’s commission is 18% of the hammer price, with a minimum lot value charge of £6.
To cover staff costs associated with sorting and preparing items for sale, a lotting fee of £2 per lot, per auction, is charged on sold lots only.
Edwards Auctions also offers a house clearance or probate service. If you’re interested, contact us for more information.
The auction house reserves the right to refuse any item or group of items without explanation. Upon acceptance, vendors must complete the necessary paperwork, including a full listing of all items to be entered and any required reserve prices.
Payments to vendors for items sold are made from 14 days after the sale. Payments are only issued for items that have been paid for and collected by the buyer. Some buyers may have extended payment terms based on their transaction history and payment record; this is also reflected in our payment to vendors, as we will only be able to make payment once we receive full payment from the buyer, and that includes any buyer with extended terms. For all items sold on behalf of a probate sale, any funds from the sale of these items will be paid to the respective solicitor or executor once and only when all items are sold.
Items are typically allowed a maximum of two auction entries. After each unsuccessful attempt, Edwards Auctions will contact the vendor to discuss possible changes to pricing or lot details, or to arrange collection of unsold items. If not collected 3 days after the second auction, the items will go to charity.
