A Chinese export porcelain plate decorated in the Rose Medallion pattern. The centre of the dish features a circular medallion depicting a domestic or scholarly scene with several figures in a pavilion setting, executed in a polychrome palette of overglaze enamels. This central medallion is surrounded by a wide border containing four cloud-shaped cartouches, each enclosing floral and foliate sprays. These reserves are set against a dense millefleurs ground of various flowers and green leaves over a gilded background. The rim is finished with a gilded band.
