A vintage promotional point-of-sale hanging sign produced for National Westminster Bank. The item is constructed from stiff yellow-faced card or board, cut into a distinct irregular pentagonal shape with a gabled top. The front displays a black illustration in a style resembling 18th-century woodcuts, depicting a character in period dress standing beside an open chest filled with coins. A speech bubble contains the transcribed text: NOW I CAN OPEN A DEPOSIT ACCOUNT WITH THE NATIONAL WESTMINSTER!. This piece of ephemera dates to circa late 1960s or early 1970s, shortly after the 1968 merger of the National Provincial and Westminster banks. Two holes are punched into the left side with a white hanging cord attached.
