An early 20th-century oak coal purdonium or cabinet, designed in the Jacobean Revival style. The piece is constructed from solid oak, displaying prominent medullary rays characteristic of quarter-sawn timber. The rectangular top features a shaped, scalloped backsplash and is bordered by rope-twist carved edging. The front is fitted with a single door containing a recessed geometric-carved panel with a central circular boss. The cabinet is raised on four bobbin-turned legs, which are joined by H-pattern stretchers resting on block feet. The door is fitted with a decorative brass-toned escutcheon and a teardrop-style latch pull. The interior reveals a removable, twin-handled galvanised metal liner. Two loose, turned black-stained wooden finials or feet are currently stored inside the liner. This is a single-piece construction.
