This late 19th or early 20th-century rocking chair, also referred to as a library rocker, is constructed from a dark hardwood frame, likely mahogany or stained beech. The chair is upholstered in bottle green leather featuring deep-buttoned, or Chesterfield style, detailing across the back, seat, and arm pads. The upholstery is finished with brass-headed nailhead trim. The frame is characterised by substantial scrolled armrests and a matching scrolled base that supports the rockers. A single turned spindle stretcher connects the two rockers for structural stability.
