A mid-to-late 20th-century Chinese style hardwood extending dining suite. The suite consists of a rectangular dining table and six matching side chairs. The table features an inset panelled top within a wide frame and a moulded edge. It is of an extending design, accompanied by two additional leaves. The table is supported on four cabriole legs terminating in ball-and-claw feet. Each of the six side chairs features a tall back with a curved top rail and a wide, plain central vertical splat in the Ming style. The chair seats incorporate inset panels that match the table’s construction. The chairs are raised on cabriole legs consistent with the table’s design. The set is constructed from a polished dense hardwood with a rich reddish-brown tone, in the style of rosewood or huanghuali. No maker’s marks or labels are visible.
