A group of carved figurines in the Chinese and Japanese style, manufactured from a cream-coloured resin or composite material designed to simulate the appearance of ivory or bone. The collection includes several depictions of Hotei, known as the Laughing Buddha, characterised by a portly stature and jovial expression. These figures are shown in various standing poses with arms raised aloft, some holding auspicious objects such as gold ingots. Also included is a smaller seated figure of a Buddha in a meditative dhyana mudra. The figures exhibit stylized carving of the robes and traditional iconography including prayer beads. Most of the Hotei figures are mounted on tiered, ebonized wooden stands. No visible reign marks, artist signatures, or inscriptions are present.
