A set of proof coinage from Great Britain and Northern Ireland, dated 1970, marking the final year of pre-decimal currency. The collection consists of proof-quality specimens in cupro-nickel, brass, and bronze. The denominations present include the Half Crown, Florin, English Shilling, Scottish Shilling, Sixpence, Threepence, One Penny, and Half Penny. Also included is a square bronze-coloured commemorative medallion bearing the Royal Mint crest. The coins are mounted in a clear acrylic protective case, which is housed in a textured purple cardboard presentation box with gold-tone lettering. This set was issued by the Royal Mint as the final proof series of the “lsd” system prior to the transition to decimalisation in 1971.
