Lot 300g A Victorian Taxidermy Red Grouse Under a Glass Dome

A late 19th or early 20th-century taxidermy specimen of a Red Grouse (Lagopus lagopus scotica). The bird is presented in a naturalistic standing pose, displaying its characteristic mottled reddish-brown and black plumage. A distinguishing feature is the thick white feathering extending down the legs to the toes, typical of the Lagopus genus. The specimen is set within a naturalistic ground-work base featuring dried mosses, grasses, and lichen. It is housed under a traditional circular glass dome, which sits on an ebonised circular wooden base with a grooved rim and a corded trim at the base. No maker’s labels or marks are visible.
