The British aircraft, bearing serial number A4763, was piloted by Captain James McCudden VC of the Royal Flying Corps No. 60 Squadron. The work is signed Ronald G Bury in ink on the lower right of the mount and inscribed Captain J B McCudden VC RFC (1917 60 Sqn) to the left. The painting is presented in a multi-layered cream mount within a gilt-finished wood frame.
