A collection of three commemorative prints detailing the history and personnel of RAF Manston.
The first print, dated 1916–1998, is a composite historical work celebrating the operational life of the station. The central feature is a colour painting of the main station building and the RAF Manston entrance sign, surmounted by the station crest with the motto ARISE TO PROTECT. The periphery contains numerous pencil-style sketches of buildings including the Underground Hangar 1918, the 1970 Control Tower, and the 1996 Sergeants’ Mess. Historical figures depicted include Squadron Leader Robert Peel Ross, Lord Trenchard, and Wing Commander Michael Richardson OBE. A sketch also marks the departure of the United States Air Force from the station in 1958.
The second print is a monochrome stippled pen-and-ink graphic work by the artist D. Jones, signed and dated 92 in the plate. The subject depicts three airmen in period flight clothing walking across an airfield with a twin-engine aircraft, resembling a de Havilland Mosquito, in the background.
The third print is titled THE MANSTON SPITFIRE and her pilots, featuring artwork by Stephen Beech. The central study is a detailed tonal drawing of a Supermarine Spitfire bearing the squadron code KH-Z. This is surrounded by portrait sketches and identifying captions for pilots primarily from No. 403 Squadron (Royal Canadian Air Force) and No. 66 Squadron (Royal Air Force), including Squadron Leader Henry P M Zary DFC and Flight Lieutenant James D Lindsay DFC. The print includes the logo for The Hurricane and Spitfire Museum, Manston.
