This large, contemporary cold-cast resin sculpture is a three-dimensional interpretation of the 1880 painting ‘The Storm’ (La Tempête) by Pierre Auguste Cot. The piece depicts a male and female figure in a dynamic, running embrace, with the female figure partially draped in a billowing fabric that arches over both subjects. The male figure is rendered as a classical nude. The sculpture is finished with a high-gloss bronze-effect patina, featuring golden highlights on the raised surfaces against darker, recessed tones. The figures are set upon an integral base modelled as swirling water, which sits atop a tiered circular plinth. No artist signatures, foundry marks, or edition numbers were identified during inspection. The piece is substantial in size, as indicated by the accompanying 330ml soda can for scale.
