This work is a framed print reproduction after the original 18th-century painting by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. The composition captures a bustling maritime scene in Venice during the Ascension Day festival. Prominently featured are key architectural landmarks including the Doge’s Palace, the Campanile of Saint Mark, and the Libreria Marciana. The waterway is crowded with numerous gondolas and ceremonial vessels, notably the large red and gold state galley known as the Bucentaur. The print is presented in a wide, moulded wooden frame with a gilt finish. The piece is currently protected by a clear plastic wrap. A small, partially torn white adhesive label is present at the top centre of the frame. No signature, date, or inscription is visible on the surface of the work.
