A mid-century single-pedestal metal tanker desk, in the style of manufacturers such as Steelcase or General Fireproofing. The piece is constructed from sheet steel with a dark olive-brown painted finish. It features a rectangular work surface covered in a grey laminate or linoleum material with a contrasting light-coloured edge trim. The right-hand pedestal contains two drawers, comprising a shallower upper drawer and a deeper lower filing drawer, both fitted with curved metal D-shaped handles. A circular locking mechanism is located above the top drawer, though no key is present. A modesty panel is situated at the rear of the kneehole, and the desk stands on four square-section legs fitted with black protective feet. No maker’s marks or labels were identified during inspection.
