Lot 45 A Japanese Satsuma-style Polychrome Earthenware Vase

A Japanese Satsuma-style earthenware vase, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The vessel features an ovoid body tapering to a narrow base, topped with a distinctive fluted or bag-shape neck finished in an iron-red glaze. Small, moulded decorative lugs are positioned at the shoulder. The body is constructed from cream-coloured earthenware with a characteristic crackle glaze, while the lower section transitions into a solid yellow glaze towards the foot. The central decoration consists of hand-painted polychrome enamels in shades of orange, blue, and white, depicting large floral blooms, including chrysanthemums, accented with black outlines and gilt highlights. The neck is further embellished with small, stylised floral motifs. No maker marks are visible on the exterior surface shown.
