This large-sized jug features the character with a jovial, ruddied complexion, a full grey beard, and a moustache. He is wearing a black wide-brimmed hat and a reddish-brown doublet. The base carries a green printed factory mark consisting of a lion and crown above a circular Royal Doulton stamp. The mark also includes the pattern name Falstaff, the model number D 6287, the copyright date COPR 1949, and the text Doulton & Co Limited. A faint incised number 51 is visible on the underside.
