A 19th-century pine storage chest of rectangular form, constructed from softwood planks. The hinged lid is reinforced with two internal wooden cleats and features a simple wooden block handle to the top. The chest is supported by a moulded plinth base. One side retains a shaped wooden carrying handle. The exterior surfaces are heavily decorated with multi-coloured paint splatters, drips, and smears, suggesting prolonged use within an artist’s studio. Remnants of a prior folk-art decorative scheme are visible on one side panel, featuring red-painted sections with yellow line borders. The interior reveals plain pine construction with faint, illegible graphite or crayon markings on the base boards. The lid is attached with simple metal butt hinges.
