This lot comprises two disparate side chairs. The first is an Arts and Crafts style ladder-back chair constructed from dark-stained oak, showing a prominent grain. The high back features three horizontal slats, with the top rail decorated with a pierced central spade or heart-shaped motif. It is built with square-section legs and rectangular-profile stretchers, supporting a woven rush seat. A small white inventory label marked L7 is adhered to the back rail. The second item is a traditional English spindle-back cottage chair, likely constructed from a hardwood such as beech or ash, which has been finished in lavender-coloured paint. The back is formed of five vertical spindles between a top rail and the seat, supported by four tapered legs and an H-stretcher. This chair includes a detachable tie-on seat pad and a back cushion in a red and cream toile de Jouy patterned fabric.
