A large Japanese style export ceramic vase, likely mid-20th century, executed in a manner reminiscent of Satsuma ware. The vessel is of baluster form featuring a flared, scalloped rim and twin handles modelled as stylised dragons or serpents. It is constructed from a light-coloured earthenware and sits on a flared pedestal base. The piece is decorated in a polychrome palette dominated by iron-red, yellow, and cream. The central body features hand-painted floral motifs, including large peonies or chrysanthemums in shades of red, blue, and white. The decoration includes raised white enamel detailing using the moriage technique and a horizontal band of scrolling foliate patterns. The neck displays a stylised floral medallion against a deep red ground. No factory marks or signatures are visible.
