A mid-century G-Plan chest of drawers from the Tola and Black range, manufactured by E. Gomme Ltd of High Wycombe circa 1950s. The chest is constructed with tola wood veneers and features four long graduated drawers. Each drawer front is finished in an off-white lacquer and is fitted with a pair of brass U-shaped hoop pull handles. The unit is supported by a black ebonised timber base frame with four tapered legs, each terminating in adjustable brass-capped feet. The interior of one drawer is gold-stamped with the authentic maker mark, comprising a stylised crest with the letters EG, the vertical text G-PLAN, and the words E. GOMME HIGH WYCOMBE. The drawers are constructed with machine-cut dovetail joints.
