A mid-20th century Indian carving set, also known as a trousse, featuring two implements contained within a shared scabbard. The set consists of matching tapered hilts made from dark, polished hardwood, likely rosewood, each fitted with a plain brass ferrule. The blades remain sheathed within a decoratively carved wooden scabbard which displays foliate and floral motifs. The scabbard is reinforced with brass furniture, including a locket and chape joined by two longitudinal brass straps secured with small pins. A small brass suspension loop is integrated into the lower brass fitting. This style of carving set was a popular export item from India during the middle decades of the 20th century.
