A pair of hand-painted bisque ceramic figurines depicting an elderly man and woman in continental-style rustic dress. The seated male figure is portrayed wearing a black hat, moulded spectacles, a white shirt with a red bowtie, a grey waistcoat, and ochre-coloured trousers. He holds a small, rectangular reddish-brown chest with a relief quatrefoil motif. The standing female figure is shown wearing a white headscarf, a bodice, and a white apron over a reddish-brown skirt, whilst holding a white pitcher. Both figures are set on integral moulded bases with white finishes and minor gilded scroll highlights. The style is indicative of mid-20th-century decorative exports, possibly of Japanese or European origin.
