A well-proportioned two-drawer chest or filing cabinet, designed in the Regency reproduction style. The piece features a thick, moulded top above two deep drawers. The drawer fronts are decorated with highly figured burr yew veneers within straight-grained cross-banded borders and raised moulded frames. The drawers are fitted with brass-finish swing handles on decorative backplates and have central keyhole escutcheons. The unit is supported by a heavy, stepped, and moulded plinth base. The side panels are finished in a matching light-toned wood veneer. The construction and style are typical of late 20th-century English manufacturers specialising in traditional reproduction furniture. No maker’s marks or labels are visible.
