This mahogany kneehole writing table is designed in the George III style and likely dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. The piece features a solid mahogany top decorated with an inlaid stringing border and crossbanded edges, and notably does not have a leather inset. The drawer arrangement includes a central shallow drawer positioned over a scalloped kneehole frieze, flanked on either side by two deeper drawers. Each drawer front is embellished with boxwood or ebony stringing and crossbanded borders. The drawers are fitted with brass swan-neck handles on circular plates and central brass escutcheons. The entire piece is supported by four square-section tapered legs. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the exterior of the piece.
