A trio of original presentation boxes issued for the 1951 Festival of Britain commemorative five-shilling crown. These boxes are constructed from paper-covered board with a textured leatherette-style finish. The group includes two boxes in a maroon/burgundy colour and one box in dark green. Each lid features gold-blocked detailing, including the arched inscription FESTIVAL OF BRITAIN, the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom, and the date 1951. These cases were manufactured in the United Kingdom to house the cupro-nickel crown minted for the festival, a national exhibition held to promote British contributions to science, technology, industrial design, architecture, and the arts following the Second World War. This lot consists of the presentation boxes only; no coins are included.
