The first item is a spindle-back side chair in the Swedish Penny or Ibex style, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The chair features a solid circular wood seat, likely elm, into which seven turned spindles are socketed, supporting a curved and shaped crest rail. The chair stands on four turned legs, possibly of beech or ash construction, which are reinforced by a turned H-frame stretcher. The entire piece is finished in a dark, aged stain.
The second item is a contemporary industrial-style high bar stool, in the manner of Xavier Pauchard’s Tolix designs. It is constructed from pressed and welded sheet metal with a powder-coated teal finish. The stool features a square seat with rounded corners and a central oblong aperture for carrying. It stands on four tapering legs with an integrated peripheral footrest and an X-shaped cross-brace support beneath the seat.
