A mid-20th century lever-action nutcracker designed in the form of a squirrel. The piece is manufactured from cast aluminium with visible mold seams from the production process. The figural design features a squirrel in a seated position, with the curved, textured tail acting as the lever arm. When the tail is depressed, an internal plunger mechanism moves forward within the body to crush a nut positioned against the front paws. The squirrel is mounted on an integral rectangular base with a cast-in wood grain texture. No maker’s marks or stamps are discernible on the item.
