This large stoneware vessel, intended for use as a Rumtopf (rum pot), is attributed to West German manufacture, in the style of potteries such as Scheurich or Jasba. The jar features an ovoid body with two integral lug handles and a matching domed lid topped with a circular finial handle. The exterior surface is textured with fine horizontal ribbing. The front of the jar displays a relief-moulded panel depicting a single fruit, possibly an peach or apple, within a textured circular border. Above this panel, the word RUMTOPF is embossed in a curved arrangement of capital letters. The lid is further decorated with a raised relief motif of a grape cluster. The piece is finished in an off-white or cream-coloured glaze featuring a pronounced, intentional crackle or crazed effect. A dark brown wash has been applied to the recesses of the relief work, lettering, and ribbing to accentuate the decorative details. No manufacturer marks are visible on the exterior surfaces shown.
