A mid-20th-century Chinese porcelain decorative plate featuring polychrome overglaze enamels in the Rose Medallion pattern. The central circular medallion depicts a group of figures, likely scholars or immortals, in a garden setting. This is surrounded by four alternating panels containing floral displays with birds and butterflies, and additional floral motifs. The panels are set against a densely decorated ground of flowers and scrollwork on a gilded base. The underside of the plate features an apocryphal square red seal mark containing four characters reading Qianlong Nian Zhi, which translates to Made in the reign of Qianlong (1736-1795). Supplemental modern factory identification marks are present on the base, including a circle containing the number 14 and two triangular stamps containing the number 21.
