A footed ceramic bowl by Franz Anton Mehlem of Bonn, Germany, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The exterior is decorated with a transfer-printed naturalistic scene depicting three mallard ducks in flight over a lake with a wooded shoreline. This central motif is set against an airbrushed pastel ground that transitions from pale blue at the base to a light lavender colour towards the rim. The bowl is finished with a dark painted rim and a solid dark green circular foot. The base bears a printed factory mark in green featuring a stylized tower containing an overlapping AM monogram, a banner inscribed FRANZ ANT. MEHLEM, and the word GERMANY in arched capital letters.
