A Victorian low-profile armchair, commonly referred to as a nursing or ladies’ chair, dating from the mid-to-late 19th century. The chair features a characteristic spoon-back design with deep button-tufting to the backrest. The frame is constructed from a dark-stained hardwood and features curved armrests supported by decorative turned spindles. It is raised on decoratively turned front legs and slightly splayed rear legs, with the front legs terminating in metal casters. The chair has been re-upholstered in a dusty pink or mauve fabric featuring a small-scale white diamond lattice pattern. The seat and backrest are fully padded, and the lower edges are finished with a matching decorative gimp trim.
