A mid-century modern chest of four graduated drawers, likely of British manufacture, dating to circa 1960s. The piece is finished in a warm-toned teak veneer and stands on four splayed and tapered legs. The top drawer is shallower than the lower three and is fitted with two oval, brass-toned metal pull knobs. This top drawer front is designed with slightly rounded upper corners. The three lower, deeper drawers feature integral finger-pulls along the underside of each front, creating a clean, handle-less appearance. The carcass is constructed with veneer over a secondary wood or composite core. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the piece. This design is highly characteristic of the domestic furniture produced by British firms such as Avalon Yatton during the post-war period.
