This high-relief wall plaque is manufactured from a moulded composition or resin material, treated with a dark brown finish to simulate carved wood. The subject matter illustrates a rustic domestic scene within a kitchen setting. Two figures in traditional peasant dress, a man and a woman, are depicted seated on either side of a large brick-lined fireplace. A central cooking pot is suspended over an open fire. The plaque is designed with an integral raised border on three sides. No maker marks, artist signatures, or stamps are visible on the front of the piece.
