A large mid-century modern ceramic vase of flared, organic form with an irregular, wavy rim, manufactured in the pottery centre of Vallauris, France. The vessel is decorated with a complex, multi-layered drip glaze in the fat lava style. A deep chocolate-brown ground provides the base for cascading glazes in shades of cream and ochre, which frame a central translucent pool of amber-toned glaze. The interior is finished in a uniform dark brown glaze. The underside of the base features a vertically impressed mark reading VALLAURIS.
