Attributed to Japanese manufacture, this pair of mid-20th century glazed ceramic figurines depicts Boxer dogs in different characteristic poses. The lot comprises one dog modelled in a standing four-square stance and a second dog in a seated begging position with its front paws held to the chest. Both figurines are finished in a high-gloss glaze with a fawn-coloured coat, black facial masks, dark ears, and white markings to the chest and feet. A small, rectangular white paper label is affixed to the flank of the standing dog, which is stylistically consistent with importer labels used by firms such as Wales Pottery during the 1950s and 1960s. No other maker’s marks or model numbers are visible on the exterior of the pieces.
