This group of British stoneware is from the Saffron range, produced by Hornsea Pottery and designed by John Clappison. The collection consists of a teapot with cover, several mugs, a square-form storage jar, and a stack of plates in varying sizes. The items are finished in a characteristic honey brown matt glaze, decorated with a repeating pattern of stylized floral and geometric circular motifs in shades of orange and dark brown. The plates are detailed with concentric rings around the rims. The bases are marked with a printed factory stamp reading Hornsea England 1972 Saffron.
