This nineteenth-century print on paper depicts the British statesman William Ewart Gladstone (1809–1898). The subject is portrayed in a formal, three-quarter profile pose, standing with his hands clasped at the waist. He is dressed in traditional Victorian attire, including a dark frock coat and a high-collared shirt with a cravat. Along the upper edge of the image area is a printed inscription that reads: Published Oct 1st 1894 by the Fine Art Society, 148 New Bond St, London. A stylized, circular monogram is visible in the lower right-hand corner of the image. The work is presented within a double mount, featuring a tan outer mount and a white inner mount, and is housed in a dark-stained wooden frame.
