This mid-20th century rocking chair is constructed from poles of burnt bamboo, featuring characteristic dark scorched decorative markings. The frame is secured with traditional lashed rattan bindings at the joints. The design comprises a tall backrest containing four decorative vertical bamboo spindles formed into elongated loops. The chair features curved bamboo armrests and a continuous bamboo loop base that forms the rockers. It is fitted with an integrated upholstered headrest and a padded seat, both covered in a multi-coloured, horizontally-striped woven textile.
