Description
An antique barrel butter churn by G. Llewellin and Son of the Royal Prize Churn Works, Haverfordwest. The piece is constructed from wooden staves secured by metal hoops and rests on a fixed wooden trestle stand. It is equipped with a side-mounted metal hand crank with a turned wooden handle, which operates an internal wooden paddle agitator. The top of the barrel features a rectangular opening with a removable wooden lid. An oval brass maker’s plate is fixed to the end of the barrel and is embossed with the manufacturer’s details and location, with the size number field remaining blank.
