Description
This small serpentine-fronted chest of drawers is a 20th-century reproduction in the Louis XV revival style. The primary finish consists of a warm-toned walnut veneer, with the three drawer fronts featuring scrolling floral marquetry in a contrasting lighter wood. The top surface is detailed with a rectangular inlaid stringing border. The structure features a pronounced bombe front and sides, terminating in four short cabriole legs. The secondary wood used for the drawer linings is a light-coloured softwood or plywood, consistent with modern machine production. Each drawer is fitted with two ornate, cast-metal swing handles with decorative backplates in a brass finish. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior or interior of the piece.
