A 20th-century tabletop book trough or rack constructed from knotted pine with a light-stained finish. The piece features a single fixed horizontal shelf and a diagonal backrest designed to hold books at an angle, set between two shaped vertical end panels with a simple scalloped profile. The construction is a fixed single-tier design and is not sectional or stacking. No maker marks, characters, or symbols are visible on the surfaces of the end panels, shelf, or backrest.
