Description
This mid-century modern chest of drawers is from the Librenza or Tola and Black range produced by the British manufacturer E. Gomme Ltd. under the G-Plan brand. Dating from the late 1950s to early 1960s, the unit is finished in a dark Tola (African Mahogany) veneer. The chest features three full-width graduated drawers, each fitted with original rectangular brass-toned pull handles. The secondary wood used for the drawer linings is a lighter hardwood. The piece is supported by four tapered legs, each finished with adjustable brass ferrules. An interior drawer contains the authentic gold-embossed stamp featuring the stylised EG logo, the words High Wycombe, and the G-Plan brand name. This specific mark was utilised by the company between 1952 and 1965.
