Description
A group of silver items comprising a rectangular cut glass vanity jar with a silver lid and three additional silver circular covers. The glass jar is decorated with a diamond-cut pattern. The rectangular lid features an embossed border of foliate scrolls and floral motifs around a raised central boss. The three circular lids are decorated with a repoussé design known as the Reynolds Angels, featuring five cherub heads among clouds.
The rectangular lid bears the following hallmarks: maker’s mark L & S for Levi & Salaman, the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and the date letter y for 1923.
One circular lid bears the following hallmarks: maker’s mark B P over D C in a shield, the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and the date letter k for 1909.
A second circular lid shows the lion passant and Birmingham anchor marks near the edge. The third circular lid has no visible hallmarks to the exterior.
