Description
A German Second World War period War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern). The award is designed as a Maltese cross with pebbled arms and two crossed swords positioned between the arms. The centre features a circular medallion with a raised oak leaf border. The reverse medallion displays the date 1939 in raised numerals. The obverse typically features a raised swastika within the central medallion. The item is constructed from a bronze-toned metal, consistent with bronze-washed zinc or tombak alloy production. It retains its original suspension loop and ring. No manufacturer marks are visible on the suspension ring or the body of the cross.
