Description
A German War Merit Cross, 2nd Class, without Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse ohne Schwerter). The award is a die-struck Maltese cross manufactured from a bronze-washed metal alloy, consistent with mid-to-late war zinc production. The side shown features a central circular oak leaf wreath containing the raised date 1939 on a flat field. The arms of the cross are finished with a pebbled texture within raised, polished borders. The medal is suspended via a circular ring from a tricolour ribbon featuring a wide central black stripe flanked by narrow white stripes and red edges. No manufacturer marks or stamps are visible on the suspension ring or the body of the medal.
