Description
A philatelic-numismatic cover (PNC) issued by Niue to commemorate the inclusion of tennis in the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games and the achievements of athlete Steffi Graf. The cover incorporates a commemorative five-dollar coin, a postage stamp, and official postmarks. The coin is held within a circular plastic aperture and features the inscriptions TENNIS OLYMPIC GAMES SEOUL 1988, STEFFI GRAF, and CHAMPION FRENCH OPEN 1987, with a denomination of 5 DOLLARS. The central image of the coin depicts a female tennis player in action. The envelope is printed with the text Philatelic-Numismatic-Cover, the name Steffi Graf, a stylised silhouette of a tennis player, and the Olympic rings above XXIV. OLYMPIC GAMES SEOUL 1988. The Niue postage stamp has a value of $1.30 and features a photographic image of Steffi Graf. Two circular hand-stamps from Alofi, Niue, dated 20 10 87, denote the First Day of Issue and include the text TENNIS AN OLYMPIC SPORT and an illustrated portrait. A serial number 384 is visible at the lower-left corner.
