Lot 40:
Description
This single rocking chair is constructed from bent cane and rattan, reflecting a mid-20th-century Bohemian or Tiki aesthetic. The frame is formed from thick, bent cane members featuring decorative scorched highlights. The backrest incorporates four vertical splats that terminate in looped designs. The various components of the frame are secured at the joints with split rattan bindings. The chair sits on two long, curved cane runners that form the rocking mechanism. The piece features a padded seat and a separate padded headrest, both upholstered in a textured fabric with a multi-coloured vertical stripe pattern comprising shades of yellow, red, blue, and green. No maker’s marks or labels are present on the frame or underside.
