Lot 396:
Description
A late Victorian or Edwardian telescopic pocket case of rounded rectangular form, constructed from polished tan crocodile skin. The case features a two-part sliding design. The upper section is fitted with a curved white metal rim mount secured with a pin. Centred on the front face is an applied ornate white metal monogram of three intertwined calligraphic characters, identified as the initials JHR. The case is hand-stitched along the edges. While originally intended for cigars, the form is suitable for the storage of large writing instruments. No hallmarks or maker marks are present on the metal components.
